Two New Sermon Series
Pastor David has just begun two new sermon series at Ashland Avenue Baptist Church. On Sunday mornings he is preaching through the parables in the book of Mark. On Sunday evenings he will be preaching the book of 1 Samuel.
SCROLL DOWN to check out these two sermons from each series and continue to listen each week as sermons from each series are added.
The Presence of the Uncomfortable King Mark 3:22-27
What do you think about when you hear the word “revolution” mentioned? You might point to the American Revolution or the toppling of a modern dictatorship. Would you think to say Christianity? The answer has everything to do with your relationship to Christ. If you think of Jesus as nothing more than a quotable proponent of middle-class morality, you’re missing out on something greater. In Mark 3:22-27, Pastor David explains how Jesus is a radical revolutionary, calling men and women to join him in his victory campaign over the ruler of this age. Listen as Pastor David calls us to join the revolution by following King Jesus with our whole life.

When It Feels Like God Does Not Care: The Power of Small Steps of Faith I Samuel 1:13-28
Sometimes life is hard. Parents lose young children. Fathers are diagnosed with terminal cancer. How do you respond to tragedy and depression? What do you believe about God when life hurts? We tend to look for profound and dynamic solutions to life’s problems. Surely God gives a better answer than “trust and pray.” After all, simple answers may work for children but not in the real world. In I Samuel 1:13-28, Pastor David asks us to see that sometimes small steps of faith can be the most profound answer to life’s hurts. Listen as Pastor David proclaims that God is in control and cares enough to send His own Son to save helpless, hurting sinners.
