Why You May Already be Left Behind: Revolution and the Return of the King Mark 13:28-36

left-behind.jpgIs the end of the world near?  Can you look at the newspaper headlines and discover when Jesus will return?  In Mark 13:28-36, Jesus warns his disciples not to use wars and earthquakes as barometers for calculating the day of his coming.  Christ tells us to view all upheaval in the world as a sign that he will come to consummate his kingdom and judge the world.  Listen as Pastor David calls us to live our everyday lives for Jesus at the End of the Age.

The Mystery and Magnitude of the Kingdom of Christ: What Every Revolutionary Must Know Mark 4:26-34

seed.jpgWhen you hear someone mention the Kingdom of God, you might think about something powerful, majestic and overwhelming. It must be something huge that arrests the attention of this world. Our first instinct is not to point to a farmer throwing some seed on the ground, going to bed, and getting up morning after morning to see if anything happens. In Mark 4, Pastor David points out that much of our frustration about living lackluster lives comes down to an issue of trust. Listen as Pastor David calls us to trust a Savior who chose to conquer, not in a grand military campaign, but on a cross.

Hearing the Word of Revolution Mark 4:21-25

sudansuburbs.jpg

Do you feel removed from the front lines of real gospel ministry?  Are you searching for significance and happiness?  Many today think that the gospel is only revolutionary when proclaimed among Islamic Jihadists.  However, the darkness of sin doesn’t just exist in Muslim countries.  The kingdom of Satan reigns over people in middle class suburbs and in the bread aisle at your friendly neighborhood Wal-Mart.  In this sermon, Pastor David announces that the gospel of Christ is a revolutionary message for every situation.  You may be surprised to find how giving away the light of the gospel turns out to be the most revolutionary, fulfilling thing that you can do with your life.

Is This Really A Revolution? Mark 4:1-20

sower.jpgThe Gospels tell us that King Jesus invaded this present evil age with the good news of the kingdom. But we still see the dreadful effects of sin. Young girls get abortions. Fathers abandon their families. In Mark 4:1-20, Pastor David explains that Christ has dealt a mortal wound to sin, but a battle still rages. In a sinful world, it looks like a man telling a depressed co-worker that Jesus is the only way to peace. And it looks like a high school girl telling her friend that children are a blessing from God. Contrary to the wisdom of this world, a revolution looks like a farmer sowing seeds and waiting for the harvest. Listen as Pastor David answers the question, “Is This Really a Revolution?”  (From the sermon series, Join The Revolution: Living For Jesus at the End of the Age - Parables In Mark.)

The Presence of the Uncomfortable King Mark 3:22-27

What do you think about when you hear the word “revolution” mentioned? You might point to the American Revolution or the toppling of a modern dictatorship. Would you think to say Christianity? The answer has everything to do with your relationship to Christ. If you think of Jesus as nothing more than a quotable proponent of middle-class morality, you’re missing out on something greater. In Mark 3:22-27, Pastor David explains how Jesus is a radical revolutionary, calling men and women to join him in his victory campaign over the ruler of this age. Listen as Pastor David calls us to join the revolution by following King Jesus with our whole life.

When It Feels Like God Does Not Care: The Power of Small Steps of Faith I Samuel 1:13-28

Sometimes life is hard. Parents lose young children. Fathers are diagnosed with terminal cancer. How do you respond to tragedy and depression? What do you believe about God when life hurts? We tend to look for profound and dynamic solutions to life’s problems. Surely God gives a better answer than “trust and pray.” After all, simple answers may work for children but not in the real world. In I Samuel 1:13-28, Pastor David asks us to see that sometimes small steps of faith can be the most profound answer to life’s hurts. Listen as Pastor David proclaims that God is in control and cares enough to send His own Son to save helpless, hurting sinners.
